At our core is the concept of poiesis, and our mission is to develop a sustainable way of making comfortable, classic and wearable clothing, that will stay in your wardrobe for seasons to come.
We believe that the way the fashion industry operates today needs to fundamentally change. The system of seasonal collections in the fast fashion segment encourages overconsumption and puts pressure on people to keep up with the latest fashion trends. The result being overproduction of clothing and large ammounts of discarded textiles every year.

A Seasonless Approach
We do not work according to the traditional fashion seasons, instead we take our time to design and develop new items and launch them when they are ready.
All collections will stay in the shop until they are sold out.
Founder
apoiesi is a Norwegian brand and was created in 2021 by me, Sigrún Edda Helgadóttir. I studied fashion design in Denmark and have more than 13 years of experience as a designer and developer in the apparel industry. I've worked for notable brands such as Helly Hansen, Swims, Sweet Protection and many more. In addition to apoiesi I run my own fashion design consultancy; under the sister name: "Apoiesis Design Consultancy".
I currently live in the city of Bergen (Norway's west coast), with my husband and two boys. I created apoiesi because I struggled to find comfortable and sustainable pieces that were free from synthetic fibers. And while I found an abundance of beautifully designed pieces available, most of them were made of blended yarns mixed with polyester or nylon. So in late 2022 the very first apoiesi collection became available with pieces knitted from 100% organic merino wool in the softest skin friendly handfeel.
I am passionate about sustainable design and development so at apoiesi you will not find any fabrics or yarns with microplastic-shedding synthetic fibers.
